What To Eat Before Your Workouts
Nutrition is just as important as exercising in building muscle. Eating the right foods two to three hours before you exercise can help you perform well in the gym and get a better workout. Here are the three most important things to eat before a workout, according to Healthline:

Honest Built Bars Review 2020
Posted on Published:
Back in 2019 I did a built bar review that I titled Honest Built Bars Review | The Best Low Carb Protein Bars I’ve Ever Had.
This review includes all of their NEW flavours and improved bars. Not only that, they’ve also released new products like NEW built boost flavours and an entirely new protein + energy product that we’ll discuss in a later post!
If you haven’t already heard of Built Bars, they are a low carb protein bar company that literally took the market by storm.
Their bars are low in carbs, high in protein, low in calories and the taste is phenomenal. 100% better than any other protein bar I’ve had.
Built Bars are Gluten Free, contain zero preservatives and are naturally flavoured, made with 100% REAL chocolate.
Built Bars as a company also really does appreciate your feedback and they. have the best customer service I’ve ever dealt with.
I WAS gifted these products to give my review on and am now an affiliate but I’m not sponsored by them in any other way.
Actually the reason I was gifted products/ asked to join their affiliate program in the first place was because I constantly kept posting about them because I was just really obsessed with them LOL.
You also typically receive a coupon off of your next purchasealong with of course, you’re beautifully packaged bars!

There is currently only one flavor of the think! Keto Protein Bars and thats the amazing Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie. In my opinion, most keto-fied chocolate and peanut butter bars have a weird aftertaste, are chalky, or just arent even close to tasting like what youd expect. However, these bars are a keto home run!
Angela told me about these bars and I grabbed a box from immediately I had to based on how much she was raving about them. And she was oh so right, they are amazing, even my husband is addicted and immediately ordered a few more boxes! They dont have an aftertaste aT all. You can even put them in the fridge for a cool treat! Collin
These bars use keto-friendly sweeteners, erythritol, and stevia. No artificial sweeteners do not contain sucralose, saccharin, aspartame, acesulfame potassium, neotame, or advantame.

Check The Protein Content
Protein is the primary benefit a protein bar can give you nutritionally. For athletes, this nutrient can help strengthen the muscles during your training sessions. It also gives you more energy to get through the day. Even non-athletes can benefit from a protein bar because they tend to be filling without being dense and heavy.Protein bars can go from as little as 2 grams to as high as 30 grams of protein. High-protein bars might seem like the best buy, but sometimes manufacturers sacrifice taste for high protein content. Always check the product description or its packaging first before you purchase, and make sure the bar offers at least 10 to 20 grams of the nutrient.
Like other macronutrients , protein plays a significant role in our immune system, hormonal production, rebuilding tissues and muscles, and even supporting digestive health. Everyone’s needs are unique. To determine the right amount of protein you need in a day, it is best to consult a registered dietitian. A person’s daily protein requirement depends on age, activity level, and present medical condition.

My Built Bar Review And Experience
If you’ve been on Instagram or Facebook for a minute, I’m sure you’ve come across Built Bars. They’ve completely taken over my feed!
They promise to be a low calorie, high protein snack bar – but do they actually live up to the promise? I was curious and put in an order and wanted to share my experience and review!
When To Eat Protein Bars
Protein bars are a great convenience item. You can throw one in your gym bag or your desk drawer at work without any effort at all. However, it is important to choose whole foods to fulfill your nutritional needs whenever possible. This means that you shouldnt regularly substitute a well-balanced meal with a processed protein bar. However, protein bars do have their place. If you are on the go, a protein bar can help to keep those hunger pangs away and may help you resist unhealthy choices like candy or unnecessary snacks on your trip. Similarly, if you are going out on a long bike ride or a similar workout, protein bars can come in handy because they are easily portable and can provide energy and nutrition on the go.

These bars have a fudge-like taste! They are stored in the fridge, and if you take them out and let them warm up a bit, they are soft like fudge. I really have no idea how they can be so yummy, but they are! I love all the flavors, but Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough is my favorite!-Michelle

Q: Are Protein Bars Good For Muscle Growth
A: If you have been exercising vigorously and especially if you have been using your muscles for a weight or resistance training session, then a protein bar is a great option to help with faster recovery and to assist growth. Its not always convenient to have a protein-rich meal post workout, so a high-quality bar that you can consume quickly and easily can help. Ideally, you need to be consuming 1 gram of protein for each pound of body weight you have to maintain and build muscle so if the thought of eating six chicken breasts fills you with horror, then a good quality, clean protein bar could be a winner.
Built Bars Claims Vs Reality
Built Bars are great for several things, namely for satiating hunger. While the company doesnt make any bold claims about weight loss and muscle growth, they do claim that the bars will satisfy cravings and provide protein. These statements are absolutely true.
Built Bar is a great protein bar for satisfying cravings and adding more protein to your diet. If you have 1-2 of these bars per day, they can be a part of a healthy diet.

They help to boost your energy. While it is always best to get your nutrition from whole foods, if you want to use protein bars as workout and recovery fuel, you should know when to fuel up. Aim for eating a protein bar or nutritious snack roughly between 20 and 45 minutes before your workout , and refueling with a protein bar or nutritious snack within 45 minutes of ending your workout.

Carbohydrates Healthy Fats Fiber: Look At The Other Nutrients In The Bar For More Benefits
While protein might be the most important ingredient in the bar, it’s not the only one that contributes to the healthinessor unhealthinessof a protein bar. When looking at the label, it’s important to take note of the other nutrients it gives. For example, carbohydrates should not be the most prominent nutrient.Carbohydrates are usually added in excess because they make the product taste better at the expense of the health benefits. Make sure that the calorie count doesn’t go above 400. Good protein bars also have healthy fats in them and enough fiber to help you process your meal and keep you full the whole day.
When buying processed foods, always read the label, particularly the ingredients list. If the protein bar you’re buying has sugar, refined oils/fats, or even chemicals listed first, then consider other options. Always choose the ones made with natural and simple ingredients whenever possible.

Are Built Bars Healthy
Overall, Built Bars are healthy. They are low in fat and sugar and high in protein. For 110 calories, we like the macro ingredient profile . We really appreciated the fact that Built Bars arent loaded with sugar like many other health bars on the market.
Of course, these protein bars are not a replacement for a healthy diet. You should not use Built Bars to replace meals. Built Bars are a great snack to hold you over between meals. They can also be a great option for satiating a sweet tooth when you would otherwise go for an unhealthy dessert like a candy bar.
Q: Can Protein Bars Replace Meals
A: While it is possible to use a protein bar as a meal replacement thats not their primary purpose. Yes, they are convenient, and yes, there are plenty of protein bar brands out there that go a long way to provide a more balanced and nutritionally dense formula but overall a regular meal is going to win hands down. If you are caught on the hop though, for sure taking a protein bar is far more advisable than missing a meal entirely and as additional protein dense snacks to top up your daily quota they are fantastic. The same can also be said for protein shakes which again, are designed to be complementary rather than a replacement for one of your existing three a day meals.
Most protein bars manufactured today come fortified with a good selection of your recommended daily intake of vitamins and minerals, but there is never a substitute for real food! While some of the more advanced bars on the market do contain whole food ingredients, they still tend to be classified overall as a dietary supplement as opposed to a food source.

Avoid Protein Bars With Saturated Fat Content And Higher Than 5g Of Sugar Per Serving
Tasty protein bars are a great way to satisfy a sweet tooth and get your nutrients in. However, the tastiest bars can mean they packed the product with a ton of sugar and fat to get it to taste good. Some protein bars are even worse than baked pastries in terms of these bad nutrients to make their product the best-tasting.A protein bar should have no more than 5 grams of sugar in a single serving. As much as possible, there should be no saturated or trans fats either. While sugar and saturated fats are tasty, they throw us off our fitness goals and should not be tolerated in our protein bars.
Choose protein bars that contain good fats such as nuts/nut butter, seeds/seed butter, coconut oil instead of those with hydrogenated fats/oils. Check out the ingredients list for added sugars or flavorings. As much as possible, sugar content should be less than 5 grams. Beware of sugar alcohols and artificial sweeteners since these can cause bloating or gassiness in some people.
