Should You Eat Protein Bars Every Day

Even though protein bars have their perks, you dont need to eat them every day. Some of the protein bars are also made with too much of the highly processed plant oils like canola, palm, soybean, and peanut, which makes them unhealthy.

If you think about it, you might find that you are already consuming too much protein than you need, meaning that the protein bars are not really helping but making things worse.

Experts now note that eating too much protein in the diet, this is more than 0.36g/ pound of your body weight, is quite unhealthy, and it may increase your risk of cancer, liver, kidney, bone, and heart diseases.

So, unless you are very active, for example, if you strength train vigorously each day, you may not need the protein intake level exceeding 1.5g/pound of your body weight.

Finally, some of the protein bars are overpriced, and they dont offer half the benefits they promise, you might be better off sticking to proteins from your meals.

To determine if you need the protein bars, wed recommend weighing the ingredients, nutrients in the protein bars against your values and goals, then choose the option that offers the best benefits.

The best of these bars have zero to no added sugars, and they are made of healthy organic proteins.

Look out for balanced bars when you need to keep your blood sugar levels under control and for high endurance. Any protein bar with healthy proportions say 40% carbs, 30% proteins, and 30% fat is good enough.

Protein Bars Can Help Us Get The Protein We Need

There’s a difference between not being deficient in our proteinand getting enough to make day-to-day activities easier. As certified nutritionist and Performix House coach Lance Parker explains, we may need more protein than we realize, especially if we are exercising consistently, on our feet 24/7, or going through hormonal changes, like breastfeeding.

If you wonder about how much you really need, ask your doctor or consider hiring a nutritionist to access your diet. If you’re lacking, whole foods should be your first tactic, but if you don’t find that successful, Parker says protein bars could be an alternative.

“Depending on your goals, you may find that many healthy protein bars meet the balance of protein, carbs, and fat that you are looking for,” he says. “You will also find that due to the fiber content in most bars, along with the inherent fact that your body has to take more time in breaking down solid food, bars can help you feel more satiated for longer.”

Then, you won’t have to apologize to your co-worker, spouse, or pal for getting snippy or impatient due to hunger.

Is It Ok To Eat A Protein Bar Even If You Didnt Work Out

    Slim down!

What is even inside those wrappers, anyway?

Protein bars are the ultimate dude-bro snack in one aisle and the best skinny snack in the next. The only thing thats clear from all that marketing is that protein bars have been giving us mixed messages for a really long time.

And to be honest, behind all the flashy ads, the products really do vary. Some are made with animal proteins, while some are vegan some are dead set on keeping the ingredient count as low as possible, while others are fluffed up with mineral additives and superfoods.

No two protein bars are really the same. But what they do have in common is that they A) contain protein, and B) are lauded as a healthy snack option for after your workout.

But lets say, for arguments sake, that you didnt work out today. Are they still a healthy snack?

Often, people can become nervous about eating a protein bar without justifying it with a workout. They look at the label and see a calorie count wavering somewhere around 200 and panic. But I didnt burn 200 calories.

To debunk that thought straight away, here are five other healthy snacks that also clock in at about 200 calories:

Pretzels with hummusAn apple and peanut butterAvocado toastYogurt topped with berries and granola

Id be willing to bet you think of these snacks as perfectly healthy and they are.

Common protein bar fear number two: I dont need all that protein if Im not building muscle.

Your typical protein bar contains about the same.
