- It is packed with nutrients my body craves after a good workout and gives me enough natural energy to kick off the day.

I usually buy them in bulk and store the seeds in the fridge to maintain their freshness. They have become an essential in my kitchen not only for smoothies but also to make:

Are Protein Shakes Good For Weight Loss
As long as protein shakes are made with a mix of high-quality, junk-free ingredients, they are terrific for weight loss. When youre trying to lose weight, protein is the most important nutrient. It increases satiety and prevents spikes in blood sugar. Consuming an adequate amount of protein also helps build lean muscle, which will increase your metabolism.
The next most important ingredient for weight loss is fiber. It helps keep you full, nixes cravings, and keeps your gut healthy. Fruits and veggies are the best source of fiber and nutrients, so I recommend adding at least one type of vegetable or fruit, such as a banana, to your smoothies.

What Does Collagen Do In My Smoothies
Let’s talk about the benefits of collagen! Collagen is a naturally occurring protein created by the body that is found in the connective tissues, including hair, skin, nails, joints and tendons.** In the words of our new Chief Creative Officer, Jennifer Aniston: “Collagen is the glue that holds everything together.”
While were young, our bodies are efficient at producing collagen that keeps our bones strong, our skin supple, and our ligaments and tendons in prime condition.** However, after about age 25, our bodys natural production of collagen starts to decline. Since modern food processing has largely removed collagen from our diets, we believe adding collagen back into our diets can help support the connective tissues as we age. Doing this can help retain collagen benefits, such as:
- Glowing skin**

How To Get Rid Of Smoothie Foam
Sometimes foam results from the skin of fruits, and good peeling reduces the chance of foaminess. However, if your smoothie has more foam than you like, there are things you can do about it.
Try blending it 10-20 seconds longer at the lowest speed. Or stir the foam back in with a long wooden spoon. You can pour it from one container to another, holding back the foam with a spatula. You can strain out the foam with a sieve or cheesecloth.

Cashew Butter & Raspberry Smoothie
Another way to include protein in your smoothie may be unexpected: cottage cheese. This creamy dairy product is typically consumed by the spoonful, but it’s also a welcome addition to this creamy pink drink that features frozen raspberries.
Another source of protein in this smoothie is cashew butter, which Dr. Rosendahl says is a great addition to smoothies to lose abdominal fat:
“Nut butter is my go-to for incorporating protein and healthy fat into my smoothies,” says Dr. Rosendahl. “The protein and omega-3 fatty acids found in nut butters help you to feel satiated longer and promote balanced blood sugar until lunch time, both of which are important to successful and sustainable weight loss. I prefer almond butter, but cashew or walnut butter are other great choices.”

Add Milk And Blend Until Smooth
Now is the time to add some liquid. Choose your favorite milk and add ½ cup into the blender. Blend on low until the little fruit bits turn into a smooth mixture. You may need to scrape down the sides a few times to unstick the blender. Once the mixture is moving, ever so slowly increase the speed to medium to help the smoothie become a smoother consistency.

How To Make A Smoothie With Ice Cream
A smoothie with ice cream? Uh, yes please. Once you scoop ice cream into your blender, its technically considered a milkshake, but go ahead and make that switch for an occasional indulgent treat. Ice cream, of course, makes for an exceptionally creamy, sweet, and decadent smoothie experience.
Love the idea but dont want to do dairy? Try a non-dairy ice cream, such as that varieties made of coconut milk.
I love ½ cup coconut milk ice cream blended with 1/4 to 1/2 cup almond, coconut or whole milk, says Adler. Then, its optional to add 1 to 2 teaspoons of cocoa powder or 1 handful cocoa nibs to make it chocolaty, a teaspoon of peanut butter, or fresh mintor all of the above.
Can You Put Coffee Grounds Into A Smoothie
Yes, you can add ground coffee into your smoothie and its totally ok to eat coffee grounds. Its not only a great way to add extra flavor and texture into your smoothie, itll also provide that added caffeine without needing to brew any coffee. Plus, you get the full benefit of coffee beans without having it be diluted in the brewing process. That being said, we ALSO add chilled brewed coffee because we want to maximize the coffee flavor in this coffee smoothie. BONUS: coffee grounds contain antioxidants, which is an added bonus for your smoothie.
Just make sure youre using un-brewed ground coffee for your ground coffee in this smoothie. If the coffee grounds are already brewed, they will lack flavor and caffeine, which are the two main reasons to be adding the grounds into your coffee to begin with!
NOTE: We are talking about ground coffee here, NOT instant coffee. While you could use instant coffee, that is not how this recipe is intended. I prefer grounding my own coffee beans for peak freshness and aromatic effect.
