When You Want To Lose Weight:
One study showed that when you have a fruit smoothie in your meal you end up consuming more than 12% calories as compared to a normal meal.
This means you are eating more than expected and still not gaining that satiety value because drinking all those calories as compared to eating them left you with less satiety value as you did not spend any time to chew it.
Moreover, packing all those carbs and taking a moment to gulp them can spike up your blood glucose level within very less time. In brief fruit smoothies is a big no for our diabetic viewers trying to lose their weight.
Having coffee rather than those fruit smoothies and juices can have a lot of benefits for your health.
And from this, we dont mean those frozen sugar-laden beverages available in your nearby coffee shop! You can opt for a various way to make amazing and healthy coffee shakes at homes without putting some extra efforts.
- All you need is a good blender, your favorite coffee, and low-fat milk or lactose-free milk available in the market.
- You can use almond milk or soy milk as they contain more of protein and less fat that is just ideal for a weight loss diet.
I usually prefer almond milk because I just love its taste. But it all depends upon your taste and your choices. So, do a market survey and get yourself the best unsweetened and low-fat milk product to make a wonderful coffee shake for yourself.
How Do You Make Iced Coffee
Youll need a tall glass and a spoon long enough to reach the bottom of that glass.
Fill that glass full to the rim with ice. If you really want to get serious about your iced coffee, you can make ice cubes out of coffee too. Then you wont get that watered-down effect. And if youre into that flavored sort of coffee then go for it.
Pour room temperature coffee into the glass.
Fill it almost to the top.
Pour in the white stuff. Heres where you get to make a big decision. Do you want to go all out and make this a decadent treat? If so, then add cream or half & half. If you want to go a little lighter, use whole milk or fat-free half & half. And lighter still, use nonfat milk.
Take a moment to watch the swirls sink to the bottom and mix in with the coffee. Its a magical moment. ð
Add a couple spoonfuls of sugar or whatever sort of sweetener you usually add to your coffee. In the recipe notes below, I share how to make sugary simple syrup in case you prefer to use that instead of granulated white sugar.
Stir it all up!
Add a purple straw. If youre a straw person, that is. And drink up!
Soy Protein Powder Tastes Better
Chances are, you are probably using whey or casein protein powder. By far, these are the most popular. But whey tastes bitter, no? To me it does. Not a great compliment to coffee, or anything else, in my humble opinion.
Why dont you try soy protein powder instead? Ive been using soy protein powder for decades because it has a neutral, semi-sweet taste. And soy protein is vegetarian so it is better for you and the environment. Soy protein is also a complete protein, just like animal-based proteins. It contains all the essential amino acids needed by the human body. Dont let anyone tell you otherwise.

Proffee Vs Protein Shake
So what is the difference between proffee and a protein shake?
Protein shakes are milk or water mixed with protein powder. They offer a convenient way to increase your daily protein intake, needed to support muscle growth and assist with weight loss.
Protein shakes come in a range of flavors, such as chocolate, vanilla, caramel, even coffee flavored. But most lack any significant amount of caffeine.
So for lovers of coffee and protein shakes, the proffee is the perfect way to combine your two favorite drinks into one.
Proffee blends your daily coffee with your protein to make a delicious caffeinated protein drink.
How To Make A Coffee Protein Shake
This coffee protein shake recipe is ready in just 5 minutes, but does take a little planning ahead for best results! Heres how we make this tasty low carb low sugar protein shake:
- Make coffee cubes. Pour coffee into an ice cube tray and freeze overnight, or until solid.
TIP: If you want to make this last-minute and dont have time to freeze the coffee, you can also just add brewed coffee and add ice cubes. However, it will be much less thick that way compared to freezing the coffee into ice cubes. Use a frozen cubes of strong brewed coffee for rich, coffee flavor.
- Chill coconut cream. While youre making your coffee cubes, put the whole can of coconut cream into the fridge at the same time. Once you open the can, you can easily skim the thick cream off the top, leaving the coconut water behind.
- Combine your Atkins protein shake ingredients. In a blender, combine frozen coffee cubes, Atkins Protein Rich Shake, coconut cream, and avocado.
FYI: Dont worry, you wont taste the avocado in there! But it does add healthy fats and helps thicken the shake.
- Blend. It will be very thick and creamy!
TIP: This comes out very thick, like an ice cream milkshake. If you want it thinner like a smoothie, you can either add more of the Atkins Protein Shake to get the consistency you want, OR just wait for it to melt a little after blending. It will get thinner as it melts anyway.
You can serve it plain
Or with sugar-free whipped cream on top!
Premier Protein Coffee Creamer Swap
If youre a coffee drinker, you may know the coffee itself isnt what packs on the calories, it is the sweetener and creamers that we often add to it. If you arent someone who prefers your coffee black, swapping your creamer for a premier protein shake is a great option. Unlike some protein shakes, Premier Protein® tolerates heat and can be mixed into hot beverages like coffee without splitting. Depending on your flavor preference, this protein hack works great with vanilla, caramel, or chocolate. This is also a great option for patients who utilize shakes for their protein intake but dont care for the level of sweetness. Mixing with bitter coffee helps to cut the sugary sweetness. If youre grabbing coffee at a coffee shop, just ask for your drink with extra room or if they will serve it in a larger cup.

You have to dissolve the protein powder in cool water first. Then add the coffee. The hi tense heat of the coffee curdles the protein.

I decided last night that I was going to give Keto a shot this week, but because I’m an endomorph wanted to add in a little more protein. Did a quick Google search this morning and found this recipe! It was delicious! I actually had chocolate flavored protein powder so I didn’t add in the cacao but it was still delicious! I’ve found my new breakfast – thank you!

Putting protein powder in hot water or milk or anything hot really is poison. Protein powder should be consumed cold and immediately.

Why You Should Not Have Caffeine In Your Protein Shake
Several experts, including the FDA, say that 400 mg of caffeine is generally considered a safe amount for healthy adults. So, consider this a rule of thumb:
Dont put coffee in your protein shake if youre already drinking a lot of caffeine.
Itll be pretty obvious if youve had too much because youll be jittery, anxious, nauseous, your heart will beat faster, and you might even have a headache.
Also, some people are more sensitive to caffeine than other people. I know for a fact that Im one of those people, so my caffeine limit falls below the 400 mg mark. If youre like this, too, dont push it. Your health always comes first.
Having said that, its time for the main event.
Which Coffee Is Best For Proffee
- Cold brew coffee
- Espresso shots
- French press coffee
- Instant coffee
Many Tiktok protein coffee recipes are iced coffee, so its logical to use cold brew coffee. Cold brew is also easy to make at home without expensive equipment and lasts up to two weeks. You can make a big batch and pour cold brew concentrated into your protein shake whenever you what. On the downside, cold brew needs to steep for a long time before you can drink it.
Frankly, any brewing method will work. For example, French press coffee and standard drip coffee are perfectly acceptable. However, we recommend brewing your coffee stronger than you normally because youll dilute the coffee with the protein shake and ice cubes, diminishing the coffee taste.
The easiest way to guarantee a stronger coffee flavor is to brew proffee using espresso shots from an espresso machine. Alternatively, you can make espresso-style shots with an AeroPress or Moka pot. If you cant brew espresso at home, you can order it at your local coffee shop and use that. However, as we mentioned earlier, you can use any brewing method, and even instant coffee!

What Else Should You Add To A Protein Shake
So if you arent packing your protein shake with fruit, what should you add to it?
Start with the liquid, which in this case is iced coffee. Add some unsweetened, non-dairy milk if youre looking for a bit of creaminess.
A scoop of your favorite protein powder provides extra nutrients, and it will help you stay full for longer. It should also give the shake enough sweetness that you dont need to add any fruit.
A handful of greens packs in some calcium and fiber. Spinach and kale are relatively flavorless in a smoothie, so dont be shy about it! Put in at least a couple of handfuls.
Raw cacao can give you that mocha flavor without the sugar thats often found in chocolate syrups.
Cinnamon can make your smoothie taste great and help you lose weight.
According to Fitday, studies show that consuming half a teaspoon of cinnamon a day can help regulate your blood sugar levels so that you store less fat.
Coconut oil can provide enough fat to help you feel full. Adding coconut oil to your coffee can increase energy, speed up metabolism and boost the immune system.
Remember that coconut oil is high in fat and calories, so make not to go overboard here while you are trying to actively lose weight.
Thick Banana Iced Coffee Protein Shake
Keep your bananas in the freezer to add a thick, frosty texture to your blended beverage. If its an exercise day or youre craving carbs, this makes a great breakfast that you can burn off during the day.
Unsweetened almond milk adds extra creaminess to this iced coffee protein shake.

How To Make Proffee
According to Dieter, you should aim to consume between 1.4 and 2.2 grams of protein per kg of your body weight but this also depends on the frequency, nature, and intensity of your workouts.
There are several ways to make proffee:
You can make a protein shake in the blender and add in some coffee or a shot or two of espresso
You can make a coffee beverage and stir in some protein powder
You can mix the protein into milk or creamer, and then add that to your coffee
Keep in mind that some protein powders can clump up when added to very cold or hot drinks, so you may want to add small amounts at a time while stirring. Of course, you can also use a blender to get a smoother frappe-like consistency just dont forget to let your espresso or coffee cool down first. Kinney also notes that collagen protein, in particular, mixes really well into hot beverages.
For an iced proffee, Gallway suggests filling a large tumbler with ice, pouring in two to three shots of cooled espresso and your favorite flavored protein drink, and adding in a dash of cinnamon before stirring. For hot proffee, just swap out the ice for 4 ounces of brewed coffee or two to three shots of hot espresso.
If youre using a plant-based protein powder, Dieter advises looking for a blend that utilizes multiple plant sources , and also checking third party reviews to ensure that thet dont contain high levels of heavy metals .

Put Instant Coffee In Your Protein Shake
Obviously, this only applies if you are indeed making a protein shake anyway. It doesnt apply if you definitely want hot coffee with a scoop of protein powder mixed in. But this method gets great results, so I am mentioning it first.
If you are a coffee snob and resistant to using instant coffee, dont be. There are some great-tasting freeze dried coffees available nowadays. I am a coffee snob and, while not as delicious as Starbucks, I am fine with it. And, of course, you cant beat the convenience of instant coffee.
Its so easy to toss a teaspoon or two of instant coffee into your shake mix. It blends in that nice coffee flavor without any of the clumpiness or foam you get with mixing with hot coffee. This is my number one recommendation and if you do morning protein shakes, definitely try it.
Mix Protein Powder In Coffee Creamer Or Milk
If you like a lot of milk or creamer in your coffee then you can dissolve the protein powder in it, prior to mixing with hot coffee. Protein powder plays nicely with cold liquids, so this works well. But remember that both milk and cream are already thick with dissolved solids, so it will only accommodate a little bit of protein powder.
After the powder is fully absorbed in the cold creamer, slowly stir in hot coffee on top. This makes a good tasting coffee.
